 Gladstone Port Authority
Gladstone Port Authority operates the second largest coal exporting centre in Australia. They have contracted Discovery Training Pty. Ltd. to assist them in the auditing and management of their training systems on an ongoing basis and also to develop Safe Work Procedures for various areas of their operations.

These Safe Work Procedures are developed with the assistance of the people employed on the shop floor which ensures ownership and acceptance of the procedures by the workforce.

A system that Discovery Training Pty. Ltd. has fostered and proven to be successful in numerous other operations that they service.

 SPP CPM
The Stuart Shale Oil Mine at Gladstone contracted Discovery Training Pty Ltd to develop an Orientation Manual for new starters at the mine and processing plant.

The manual is used as part of the induction process to familiarise the new starters with the Policies and Procedures, Safety Concerns and Issues within the Plant, Roles and Responsibilities of all individuals regardless of their position, expectations regarding their employment on site and other items that the new employees need to be aware of when commencing their new careers.

 BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance
Discovery Training Pty Ltd developed Training Packages to allow middle management to train their people in  the Standard Operating Procedures that are used across their site.

We also developed a complex training package for the Strata Control Management Plan for Crinum Mine.

 1770 Great Barrier Reef Cruises
Discovery Training Pty. Ltd. worked with the staff and management of 1770 Great Barrier Reef Cruises to review and update the Spirit of 1770 Daily Operations Manual.

The 'Spirit of 1770' is a newly commissioned 21 metre twin hulled aluminium vessel that is used to carry passengers to Lady Musgrave Island from the Town of 1770 for day trips, snorkelling, coral viewing, fishing and extended camping trips. With the Town of 1770 being the closest mainland port to the southern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef and to the Lady Musgrave Island it attracts many local, interstate and overseas tourists.

 Queensland Underground Coal Mining Services
This company is involved with the injection of polyurethane resins into strata to consolidate it and so allow the safe mining of the required minerals.  The services of Discovery Training Pty Ltd were utilised to develop both Operator and Supervisor Manuals for the injection of the resins that are used.

Mobile machinery manuals were also developed for QUCMS.
 Brambles Industrial Services
The services of Discovery Training Pty. Ltd. were utilised by Brambles Industrial Services to review and reformat existing documentation for the group.


 Kestrel Coal
Discovery Training Pty. Ltd. was contracted by Kestrel Coal to convert their library of 38 Operator Manuals from PageMaker format in Apple Macintosh to Word format in Microsoft.

This allows them to have any of their Administrative Assistants, who are competent in Microsoft Word, to make the ongoing changes to their manuals without the need to have specialised Desktop Publishing skills.

Relief supervisory work has also been conducted on numerous occasions.
 Grasstree Mine

Grasstree Mine is a greenfield site located in Central Queensland. It commenced operation as an underground Longwall mine in late 2003.

Discovery Training was called in to assist in the development of Training Resource Handbooks that are being used as the tool in the training of new employees. It is also the benchmark standard to which the experienced mineworkers are audited. This ensures that all of the employees are trained and skilled to the same standard, regardless of their previous experience.
 Moranbah North Coal

Discovery Training Pty Ltd conducted a machine audit on 3 of the underground coal mines machines against the existing manuals.  Changes had been made to the machines that were no longer reflected in the manuals.

At the same time, the manuals were converted to Word format so the manuals could be updated on site when additional changes were made.
 NRG Gladstone Operating Services

NRG Gladstone Operating Services Pty Ltd utilised the services of Discovery Training Pty Ltd to develop Routine Maintenance Logbooks for their Mobile Plant and also to develop Training Packages associated with their Key Safety Issues.
 Boyne Smelters Limited
Discovery Training Pty Ltd was contracted to facilitate groups from the shop floor to develop the Task Descriptions and Common Best Practice documents associated with the refurbishment of equipment used in the smelting of aluminium.

This task involved setting up and managing the project from start to finish.
 
 Capricorn Coal Management
Southern Colliery, a subsidiary of Capricorn Coal Management utilised the services of Discovery Training Pty Ltd to act as an Independent Assessor when they had a contract firm employed to complete a drivage in an underground area of their mine.
 Agnes Water Foodstore
The management of Agnes Water Foodstore, a franchise to Australian United Retailers, requested Discovery Training Pty Ltd to assist them in the preparation of a business plan that was used in the process of expansion for their business.
